About the Event
This event shall be for farmers and landowners only, as an introduction to the newly formed Cherwell Farmers Cluster. We will gather for a coffee and bacon sandwich before Ed takes us for a walk around the arable farm. Various stewardship options have already been deployed at Leadenporch, however with the new nature markets and the ongoing challenges with extreme weather patterns, discussion will naturally turn to the future options and opportunities.
Particularly interesting topics will be:
- Managing surface flow of water over the fields and intercepting runoff.
- Improved drainage in the soils and land drains
- Existing conservation options, such as pollen and nectar mixes and hedge management
- Potential for new revenue, such as Biodiversity Net Gain and 'making space for water'
Please can all farmers in the Cherwell Catchment try and invite a farming neighbour/friend that isn't currently a member and we shall begin to grow this exciting new farmer group from our 30-strong beginnings.
